BEDROOM BLUES...

Okay... after writing out this title I noticed that this may sound like it's a blog post on adult subject matters referring to the bedroom... It's not. It really is about the ugly blue-hued paint in my bedroom. I thought about changing the title, but it was too fitting for my situation.

Two weeks ago I decided to be ambitious and paint our bedroom...

I figured that the color in this beautiful home would be perfect. Gray, warm and amazing. However, I had a hard time finding a gray at the stores that didn't look too BLUE. I didn't want it to look blue at all.

My mother pointed me in the direction of this amazing paint color blog called Favorite Paint Colors. There, I found this lovely gray color by Martha Stewart (shown below), called Chinchilla.

So close to the paint color I had originally set out to find, and best of all NO BLUE!

I plastered this color on my wall... I kept seeing blue, but denying it and thinking another coat would get rid of the blue from the previous coat... I kept painting frantically trying not to let Jake see the panic. We finished. I closed my eyes and opened them one last time to yell out to my husband "IT JUST LOOKS BLUE". You could see his frustration that a whole Saturday had been wasted on a color I can't stand.

I turned the lights off... Less blue-- maybe I would never turn the lights on in that room? I would walk out... walk to the family room and walk back hoping that it was no longer blue. No such luck... Jake and I slept in our guest bedroom so that the paint fumes would not intoxicate us in the night and upon waking, I ran right back down again to see my no blue, only gray paint. Just to be disappointed.

The room has sat almost lifeless for the past 2 weeks as I debate on what to do with the color. You know that saying Go Big or Go Home? Well, I am going home and settling for a clean conservative safe... WHITE.

I know that in Utah there is some awful stigma about white walls and that everything must be Taupe, but I am throwing caution to the wind and going with white. Feeling like a coward I decided to add a punch of color by going with a big bold wall of BLACK. :)

Here's my inspiration board so you can get the feel for what I'm going for.

So now that you have a feel for what I'm liking what do you think? Yes/no? Any feelings about black and white walls? Any tips?

Wish us luck!

DETROIT IS FOR LOVERS...

So I should probably be getting ready for school right now, however, I am not feeling that hot and have absolutely no desire to pull myself together anytime soon. So here's to blogging...

Jake left me and went to Detroit on business. He got a new job working a Liberty Press Publications instead of Liberty Press. He now sells advertising for hunting and fishing regs. I hope that means he turns into a camo and bright orange wearing man with a grizzly hunting beard. :) Because then he would fit the part. Back to what I was saying. Jake left me. I thought the reason why I got married was so that I could wake up to my husband every morning... apparently that was temporary because this morning I woke up with my back a hot mess on our family room couch. I scrambled for my phone and thankfully Jake had sent me a text, but that still wasn't the same as leaning over for a kiss. Oh well, I feel like a little loser college freshman who passes out on the couch doing homework again.

Anyways. Recently we got family photos with Jakes family here is some of what we got back. :)

I had to share this one of my cute niece and nephew because it's just too cute.

My handsome husband with the other men of the family.

I need to post about my house... because my family room looks A LOT different than it has in the past... :) Because something needs to keep me entertained. So I will post them... And we painted our bedroom... It was a total bust. i'll show you later.

THANK YOU

There was something about the news that Steve Jobs had passed away that broke my heart. A man of pure brilliance. He was a great man that had such a large impact on the world. He will be missed and his accomplishments will be an inspiration to me throughout my life...

Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

THE ANGRY POSTMAN/WOMAN

So... have you ever been so frustrated that you just want to smash destroy something? Apparently, that is how my post man/woman feels on a daily bases.
exhibit A.

Now this photo, is not even the worst of the nonsense. Now, I know it's hard to see in this photo, half of our mail is torn, scrunched, or bent. I first really noticed this when I got a wedding invitation that was completely torn and bent.... so I thought maybe the mailman was saying "you check your mail more often missy." I have made a serious attempt to clean out my mailbox on a daily basis.... and still smash, crunch, DESTROY. I am not thrilled that my husband is going to have to turn in a half crumpled government form to his employer that was shoved in that mess. I don't know what's going on in their personal life, but they should their frustration out of my mailbox. ;) ha ha gives me a good laugh, daily.

On a later note, I totally geeked out at the type museum in Provo this week.

See this machine? It's called a lineotype. Seriously, I got so excited, my palms started to sweat and I wanted to run up and start typing on it soo bad.

Here is a video so you can hear the magical goodness of what this machine is. It took individual metal letters and instead of having to hand place them for a print it dropped them down a shoot in order... Learn about it if you haven't.

And that wasn't the end of my geeking for the week. Yesterday I got to listen to Jessica Hishe

She does custom lettering and design. I swooned over her work the whole time it was up on the projector. She's so young and talented and absolutely hilarious. I made Jake go with me and while he enjoyed it, it wasn't quite the same to him. Jessica does stuff like this.

That's just one example of her wonderfulness.

Oh and on another design geek note, it's such a good feeling to see your logo on the store shelves like I did the other week.... Who would have thought standing in line to check out, that me, Chelsey Oldham would look over and see this. Pretty exciting. :)

UPLIFTING

I needed this today... and figured I would share it just in case  anyone else needs it as well.
