Finished Planter...

DIY Planter

Please ignore the bad photos. The lighting in my home stinks at night. I'll Post more later.

Because Bachelor Parties Make Me Bored...

So Jake had a bachelor party for his cousin Ryan yesterday. He's getting married on Friday and we are so excited for him and Danica, in fact, I'm so excited that me and Danica said forget cousins-in-law. Let's be sisters! So it is what it is. Anyways, so I knew I would be bored without Jake to keep me entertained. So.. I remembered this...

The cutest indoor planter ever, but I decided that I wanted to put a twist on it.So, I searched KSL months ago and found this baby... It was 10 bucks for this and 1 other table that would be perfect for Jakes room. so $5 bucks.

Well, last night I decided to transform this little piece of magic. First, I cut the top out with a jig saw. I left a little more a margin in the front because it had very supportive wood that I didn't want to cut through.

Then I wanted to sand it, but, I couldn't find the sandpaper so I went ahead and spray painted it anyways, bad idea. The top was super rough and I ended up having to sand through my new paint job when Jake got home to find me the sander. Darn my impatience.

Anyways, it had this little nob that was rather ugly, but I painted it gold and now it's ugly in a quirky way.

The bottom the of the legs had some gold metal right on the very bottom, I figured I would just repaint them gold and went ahead and covered them up with the spray paint and got painting them gold... Another bad idea.

Ugly, I didn't like the way it looked. But luckily I had some "Ooops" I removed the ugly gold paint, the black spray paint and got me back to my original shiny gold.

This is how it turned out so far...

And this is my vision for where it goes, and a crappy photoshop job of some plants.

Anyways, that's what I did last night.

Porcupine Mirror.

So I have a healthy obsession with quirky unusual decor. I am always in for getting something funky! So when I saw this porcupine mirror I knew I HAD to have it!

Well, since i'm not made of mucho bucks, I decided I was going to make one myself.

I saw this tutorial on Pinky Brown blog

http://pinkybrowninc.blogspot.com/2010/10/diy-porcupine-quill-mirror.html

And that was all the inspiration I needed.

So, with a foam wreath, bamboo sticks a mirror and some paint, I came up with this lovely, all for about $30... :)

C.Oldham

Hello you Old Ham...

When I first met Jake and saw his name I pronounced it "Oldam" and didn't think too much of it. But after going through the drive through one too many times with Jake and hearing him pronounce it "Old-ham" to the man behind the window so that the spelling would be right I realized what I was getting myself into...

I have always made it appoint to pronounce it correctly and spell it out if someone needs it. Seriously, even if I have to spell it 5 times. O-L-D-H-A-M. So one day I go to the pharmacy and they ask me my last name. Oldham O-l-d-h-a-m. The old guy types it in slowly and then said... "Oooh, Old-ham". Dang, my strategy had failed me. But I'm not much of a quitter.

So then at school we put our first initial last name on assignments, not thinking about it the very first time I wrote Oldham instead of Ellison, I wrote coldham. My teacher didn't know my new last name and obviously didn't recognize it.as he was looking through our assignments, he paused and then asked the class. "Alright, who put their name as cold-ham?" I guess it inevitable, I can't escape it, but I will fight it. ;)

Wedding Photos!

One of the most important things to me next to who I married, what who photographed it. I searched far and wide for someone with just the right style. And I found him. Jesse Erasmus Photography. Well, I finally got the pictures back and I figured I would share a few that encapsulate why I love him as a photographer.

I loved my wedding and I am so grateful that I have these beautiful photos to show for it.

Great New and Fantastic Things!

So way too much business has happened since I updated. So here goes nothing....

A few weeks ago we went camping with my extended family. Now, to me, that seems like a large group of family. To an Oldham it's a private cozy gathering. But it was nice! It was my kind of camp. Cabins, stoves, clean bathrooms, wood chips over dirt. Quite the camping experience. It was an awesome reminder of just how fantastic my family is.

The camp was great and I got to do my very first zip line. It was an LDS campground that they use for Y/W during the week so they kept things GOD related during the activities which was great, in fact, it was so great that the lady at the top of the zip line, after you climb up and shimmy across the beam kept saying. "Come to the celestial kingdom, you can do it! Come up on." Jake and I laughed because it was probably not the best analogy considering as soon as we got to the top they dropped us off of the edge to slide back down to earth. So help me, I did not work this hard to be up there for 30 seconds before I have to leave.

Jakes brother graduated from High School. It was a beautiful day and pictures took about an hour. By the end my feet were killing from tipy-toeing around so that my thin heel would stop aerating their lawn. But it was a pretty cool day for Zack and we were really proud of him! This picture shows me holding Brad right before he dove right out of my arms... you can see his face contemplating the maneuver in this photo.

My lovely niece Monroe had her 2nd birthday! I can't believe she is already two years old. That girl is a little diva. She dances to "Ga Ga" like it's no ones business. She also loves Jake soo much. Every time we see her it's, "jake Jake JAKE!".

This week I got a brand new baby niece! She is darling. My sister in law Mindy had her Tuesday afternoon and they named her Alyssa. She is beautiful. I have two darling nieces now and a stud of a nephew!

Here is me holding Alyssa. She is soo tiny!

I also got my bike painted.  :)

It looks just how I wanted it! And last but not least... I got a new car yesterday! We will save so much money on gas. I have to admit when Jake first started trying to talk me into the cruze I was skeptical for several reasons.
1. It was a chevy
2. It didn't have all wheel drive.

But after multiple test drives I fell in love with my little car! And I can't even imagine how much we will save in gas.

Oh yes, and yesterday I finished summer semester!

Twenty Five...

My dearest and most fabulous husband turned 25 this week! Aww he's fantastic. His birthday was on a Thursday, my busiest day with school and work. At least Jake is super easy to make happy, we went and saw THOR, which we both loved! I was planning on making Jake something great for Dinner... except for that he ate too much popcorn at the movie and didn't feel up to par. So we spent the rest of the night hanging out. He opened his presents the night before, because I'm a bad wife and didn't care to wrap them and neither of us felt up waking up early to do it. And I needed help carrying in Jakes brand new GRILL :)

I think that this gift was selfishly motivated since half of what Jake can eat is meat and this gives us some meat variety!

Because of the new grill we invited our family over on Friday to celebrate Jakes Birthday! We started up the grill for the first time and it great! I also was able to make Jake a Gluten free, sugar free, dairy free birthday cake!! It was made out of layers of crepes and fruit filling! Hopefully it was better than nothing!

I have to go teach my 5 year olds now!
