Great New and Fantastic Things!

So way too much business has happened since I updated. So here goes nothing....

A few weeks ago we went camping with my extended family. Now, to me, that seems like a large group of family. To an Oldham it's a private cozy gathering. But it was nice! It was my kind of camp. Cabins, stoves, clean bathrooms, wood chips over dirt. Quite the camping experience. It was an awesome reminder of just how fantastic my family is.

The camp was great and I got to do my very first zip line. It was an LDS campground that they use for Y/W during the week so they kept things GOD related during the activities which was great, in fact, it was so great that the lady at the top of the zip line, after you climb up and shimmy across the beam kept saying. "Come to the celestial kingdom, you can do it! Come up on." Jake and I laughed because it was probably not the best analogy considering as soon as we got to the top they dropped us off of the edge to slide back down to earth. So help me, I did not work this hard to be up there for 30 seconds before I have to leave.

Jakes brother graduated from High School. It was a beautiful day and pictures took about an hour. By the end my feet were killing from tipy-toeing around so that my thin heel would stop aerating their lawn. But it was a pretty cool day for Zack and we were really proud of him! This picture shows me holding Brad right before he dove right out of my arms... you can see his face contemplating the maneuver in this photo.

My lovely niece Monroe had her 2nd birthday! I can't believe she is already two years old. That girl is a little diva. She dances to "Ga Ga" like it's no ones business. She also loves Jake soo much. Every time we see her it's, "jake Jake JAKE!".

This week I got a brand new baby niece! She is darling. My sister in law Mindy had her Tuesday afternoon and they named her Alyssa. She is beautiful. I have two darling nieces now and a stud of a nephew!

Here is me holding Alyssa. She is soo tiny!

I also got my bike painted.  :)

It looks just how I wanted it! And last but not least... I got a new car yesterday! We will save so much money on gas. I have to admit when Jake first started trying to talk me into the cruze I was skeptical for several reasons.
1. It was a chevy
2. It didn't have all wheel drive.

But after multiple test drives I fell in love with my little car! And I can't even imagine how much we will save in gas.

Oh yes, and yesterday I finished summer semester!

Twenty Five...

My dearest and most fabulous husband turned 25 this week! Aww he's fantastic. His birthday was on a Thursday, my busiest day with school and work. At least Jake is super easy to make happy, we went and saw THOR, which we both loved! I was planning on making Jake something great for Dinner... except for that he ate too much popcorn at the movie and didn't feel up to par. So we spent the rest of the night hanging out. He opened his presents the night before, because I'm a bad wife and didn't care to wrap them and neither of us felt up waking up early to do it. And I needed help carrying in Jakes brand new GRILL :)

I think that this gift was selfishly motivated since half of what Jake can eat is meat and this gives us some meat variety!

Because of the new grill we invited our family over on Friday to celebrate Jakes Birthday! We started up the grill for the first time and it great! I also was able to make Jake a Gluten free, sugar free, dairy free birthday cake!! It was made out of layers of crepes and fruit filling! Hopefully it was better than nothing!

I have to go teach my 5 year olds now!

Speaking of Stripes!

So while I was posting pictures of what will soon be my striped motorcycle, I got inspired to do something thrifty. So, after work I took off to Savers. That is were I found this ugly dude...

2.99 and rather ugly... But, it was tested and it works. That's all I needed to take 1/4 yard of white canvas fabric, some black & gunmetal ribbon and some double sided tape... and Voila!

I originally thought that I would want it on my kitchen counter, however, it was too small for that area, so instead, I found it a lovely little spot on my desk in my kitchen.

Anyways, just a fun 1 hour project. :D

STRIPES!!

Okay. So as you all know I got a motorcycle. It looks something like this...

with more rust, less shine, paint fading, etc....

The goal is to turn it into this badboy.

Don't judge, I know what I like and I know that I, like stripes! Hmm. Going home and cleaning this now...

I smell like stain.

So I have been dying for a shelf that goes above my couch for my amazing Wos Studios original. I was going to go get the regular Ikea ledge that looks like this one...(but the length of my couch)

Instead, I decided I wanted to do an old rustic barnwood ledge to bring some warmth into the house. However, barnwood is expensive and not that easy to come across. So I decided I would try and make it look like it with a stain. So Jake and I went and got a large pallet (The length of the wood just happened to be the exact length for our couch. I was stoked.) My handsome husband cleared the beams from the rest of the pallet and I was ready. With some dark oak stain from the hardware store (about 3 bucks) and some nails I made this lovely thing....

The pictures that you see upside down and stuff next to it are just a layout of how the frames will look. I am going to be putting black and white divinci, dali sketches in it so that it has flair without taking away from the painting.

And, that's not my last project of the night. I found this giant lightbulb in the trash a few years back and knew I wanted to do something with it. I have been holding onto it for years. This is what came of it last night...

After this part I made poor Jake run to wal-mart with me at midnight to get some of these cute tangerine and white flowers that I saw the other day. What a fantastic splash of spring!

Anyways. That's the how thus far. I am loving it.

Progress!

Alrighty, we have progress on my dream of a yellow sideboard. It's not completely finished, I ran out of paint but wanted to put it in its space until I get around to it again. We added a few more accessories and lowered the poster behind it. But here is a sneak peak! (Please excuse the mess on the coffee table.) I wish I took a picture of the before! It was a glass iron rod shelving unit that took up that whole space and was filled with clutter. I am loving what we have going on now. So fresh and clean over there.

Here are some other things that I am loving right now and hoping to incorporate into our home.

This is going to be the new runner for our table/desk in our kitchen. I think i'll be able to find fabric and make my own. but I am loving the zig zag print and it will look so cute on my black and red table with my beautiful mac sitting on top of it.

I love these books! They're from a thrift store. You rip off the cover and wrap them up. I might need to find some teal and white ones for my new yellow sideboard. hmmm delicious.

I love a gallery wall and when I have children and lots of pictures I would love one at the top of my stairs.

I just like the yellow on this one.

Umm. Where do I find that Rhino?

This room rocks. That table behind their couch is amazing and I am going to make a shelf out of the same wood treatment for the amazing painting above our couch.

Another cute gallery wall.

Gorgeous stencil treatment on the wall. Took 2 months. I would do something more simple.

I want to make a bench like this and put it in front of the fireplace for extra seating. Not so bold. Something more conservative seeing that it will be by my red leather couch and bright yellow sideboard.

Umm still love yellow.

Pretty dark room.

I found this today and I want it to be my future childs room. Delicious.

I have a light bulb that is oversized and I found it like 2 years ago. I have been saving it, not knowing what for. Turns out it's for a vase. Woot Woot.

I love this studio room.
